The outdoor playspace at Washington Drive Preschool has been revitalised following a philosophy of including natural play elements, and staff report that children are calmer and more engaged in their play.

The new design has an enlarged and more accessible sandpit, with shade structure over, and a creek bed with water tap flows from the sandpit to the digging patch. A new cubby, sand storage and accessible deck build upon this play.

Raised recycled plastic vegie beds allow the kinder to run kitchen garden programs, and new planting has been undertaken throughout.

Old plastic and steel fixed equipment has been removed and reduced in scale, so that new equipment with natural materials retains the most essential functions (such as a slide and tunnel) but frees up space for movable and flexible equipment.
