Strathewen is a small town in Victoria, which was ravaged by fire, losing people, houses, businesses, animals and the nature of the bush which they loved.

Urban Initiatives and Arterial Design teamed up to design and deliver this private memorial space for residents.

Overlapping ripples with embedded text allow locals to tell their stories of the town before the fire, Black Saturday, the losses the town experienced, and also their hopes for the future, and regeneration.

Katherine was part of the project team, involved with concept generation, documentation, planting and seating design.
